Meet the Makers: Alex and Megan Stroud
Oakenall started the way most of our ideas do — with Alex building something and I (Megan) insisting we brand it.
Alex has always loved making things, especially when they serve a real, functional purpose. He finds joy, even rest, in creating. Wood, 3D printing, software, tools… if he can figure out how to make it, he wants to do it from scratch. By day he’s an engineer, but in the shop he’s simply a maker at heart.
For Christmas 2024, I finally gave in and got him a Snapmaker. That’s when the long-standing “maybe one day” dream of an Etsy shop started to feel a little more real.
After creating several as gifts for friends and family, we realized something funny; people loved the pieces, but they didn’t always know Alex was actually making them himself. After taking five years of art in high school, Alex had already developed his artists signature, so we started putting his maker's mark on our products as well. Every piece carries it — a small reminder that this isn’t mass-produced. It’s personal.
So we decided to make it official. I brought my love of marketing, fonts, and branding to the workshop and, with the brainstorming help of some incredibly creative friends, Oakenall Curations was born in October 2025.
Alex is the hands-on maker, and I design the personalizations and share our work on the internet. We would be honored to be part of your home, your traditions, or your gift-giving. This may be a side hustle, but we do know this — we’re really doing it. And we’re so glad you’re here.
